![]() This is a shot of the Anti Tank Company in Camp Shelby, Mississippi; 1944. Click this picture to see a 100% full size version. It's a rather large file. I had to composite the two sides together, so I apologize for the slight line and fuzziness in the center. The following pages are from a letter Donald Gettings wrote about his unit seeing a work camp in Orduruf Germany. He was in the 65th infantry Division, 260 Anti Tank Company as a squad leader. In March of 1945, he was 32 years old. Click any of the links and the pdf scan will open. Email me if they don't work. The files are rather large and will take a while to download. The "Battle orders" I have posted are on little scraps of paper (about 5 x 7 inches). They appear to focus on the inital push against the Saar the 260th was involved in. If you can shed light on the chronology or other parts of the notes (terminology, location, etc), feel free to email me. I tried to write in text form what each note had written. There are a few misspellings in my translations. The * in the notes denote graphics and such. The (?) means I couldn't decipher the word or letters. There are not many letters from the war period. I will post the ones I can find as time allows. I will also post any letters from Camp Shelby and ones from the occupation period.
